Cupid’s Gourmet Cupcakes is the result of Niki Brinton’s love for home baking combined with a little bit of a “mom-preneur” spirit. As the mother of two preschoolers, Cupid’s was intended to provide some contact with the grown-up world during a two-year sabbatical from teaching high school math. Who knew it would grow into what it is today?

They say that everything happens for a reason. Perhaps the littlest Brinton being diagnosed with a peanut allergy was a sign that the business should go nut-free. So as of that diagnosis day, Cupid’s said goodbye to peanut butter and pistachios, and hello to Anaphylaxis Canada for advice on food safety with respect to nut allergies.

Today, Cupid’s employs some wonderful help, and is always accepting resumes from people interested in joining the team. At the current rate of growth, people will need to be continually added to the staff. Follow us on Twitter to stay up-to-date on Cupid’s business moves.

Cupid’s Gourmet Barkery is a proud sponsor of Ladies Out Laughing

They say laughter is good for your health and at this year’s 10th and final Ladies Out Laughing comedy night, this is especially true. Women’s chuckles have raised more than $400, 000 for cancer since Ladies Out Laughing began in 2008 in the basement of a pub.Our lofty fundraising goal for 2017 is $100,000, which will bring our final tally to over $500,000 raised in ten years. Net proceeds from this year’s event will go toward six worthy charities.

This year’s beneficiaries include: Rexall One Walk to Conquer Cancer, Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, Tour For Kids, Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan House, Knobby Tire Trek for Kids and Light House.

This year’s comedy night promises to be the best one yet. Award winning funny lady Laurie Elliott will be back as the emcee. Newcomer, Anna Gustafson will provide the warm-up entertainment and headliner Debra DiGiovanni will be back on stage for the tenth and final show.

This year’s event, which takes place at the OE Banquet and Conference Centre in Oakville is SOLD OUT

Deirdre Thomas, Chris Reidy and Darlene Burnham have been at the helm of this event since its inception and are quick to say that without the tremendous support of sponsors, attendees and volunteers they would not have achieved this degree of success.
